Department History

The Department of Information Security Technology started education in 2024 within the Faculty of Computer and Information Sciences of Eskişehir Technical University, which was established by the Presidential decision numbered 8785, published in the Official Gazette numbered 32620 dated 02.08.2024.

As digitalisation advances rapidly in today’s world, information security has become a strategic priority at every scale, from individuals to organisations, and from public bodies to the private sector. Ensuring security throughout the processes of data generation, processing, storage and sharing is not merely a technical requirement, but also one of the fundamental elements of sustainable digital transformation. In this regard, the Department of Information Security Technology aims to train qualified, well-equipped information security specialists who possess a strong sense of ethical responsibility, as required by the digital age.

In addition to equipping students with the theoretical foundations of the field of information security, our department aims to prepare them for the industry through practical training and the latest technologies. During the education process, students acquire comprehensive knowledge and skills in areas such as information security, cyber security, secure network design, cryptography, computer systems security, software security, penetration testing and digital forensics. Thus, our graduates become competent professionals capable of analysing the security of digital systems, assessing risks, identifying security vulnerabilities and developing effective solutions.

The medium of instruction in the Department of Information Security Technology is 100% English. The aim is to enable students to keep up with the international literature, gain a comprehensive understanding of technologies developing on a global scale and play an active role in both national and international business environments. The English-language teaching structure not only provides students with an academic advantage but also enhances their professional competitiveness.

Graduates of the Information Security Technology Department are educated and trained to possess the qualifications required to serve in public institutions, private sector organizations, the finance and banking sector, the defense industry, telecommunications companies, software firms, technology companies, data centers, cybersecurity operations centers, consultancy firms and critical infrastructure organizations.
